1. GOSHEN OUTREACH HELPS MANY CHURCHES
This past summer Sports &Rec Plus again helped the churches in North/Central Virginia receive help for their summer ministries and activities.  This summer mission effort is called Goshen Outreach.  All of the churches getting help were in the Goshen Baptist Association.  The mission teams came from many parts of the United States.  They assisted in: Vacation Bible School, community outreach, tract distribution, light construction work, clean-up, door-to-door visitation, and more.

The churches, both those that received mission teams and those that sent them, reported many spiritual victories.  Ray Farrow, Pastor of Mine Road Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, Virginia, told of many prospects discovered and many lives changed.  Nathan Carter, Youth minister at New Bethel Baptist Church in Harrison, Tennessee, brought a mission team and reported seven of his youth accepted Christ as a result of the week.

Over nine churches and ministries received help for eleven weeks during the summer from nine different mission teams.

Plans are already underway for the summer of 2011.  If you think you might be interested in bringing a group to North/Central Virginia to help in the harvest, please let us know.

2. MAKING YOUR RECREATION ACTIVITY EVANGELISTIC

What kind of recreation leader best inspires participants to evangelize?

Oftentimes the best evangelist is the one willing to fail.  We so often fail to tell someone about Jesus simply because we are afraid they will respond with a "No" and we will feel rejected or that we have failed.

The best way to keep evangelism in the forefront of your activity is to pray and plan for it to happen.

PRAY that God will open the way for you to share the Gospel with activity participants.  Only God can draw a person to Himself.  You can plant the seed and even water it, but only God brings the harvest.  If you feel inadequate about telling someone about Jesus, do not feel alone.  This is common.  However as you share Christ, it will get easier and you will see God work through your efforts.  This will keep you going.

PLAN
to share the Gospel.  Memorize some scripture passages about salvation and accepting Christ; Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23, and John 3:16 are but a few.  You can also get a supply of tracts to give out.  Many people have accepted Christ as their Savior while alone, reading a tract.  Finally, invite folks to attend your church.
In short, doing these things will make you available and open.  Available to God for Him to use you and open to whatever He wants you to do.

3. S.H.A.R.E. INSTITUTE INTERNATIONAL NEEDS YOU
Overall economic growth is necessary for poverty reduction and to see the lifestyles of people improve.  But this alone is not enough to ensure that the lives of  people will get better.  Their spiritual needs must be met too.  This is the vision of S.H.A.R.E. Institute, International the livelihood skills training arm of Sports &Rec Plus.

SHARE is an acrostic that stands for Serving Him And Reaching Everyone.  We serve Christ by ministering to all kinds of people with the goal of reaching everyone in the world with the message of Christ.  Our focus is mainly on the impoverished Third World people groups who know that they are hungering for a better quality of life economically and perhaps don't know that they are also hungering for a better quality of life which can only be found in Christ.  In that regard we will give them what they want, which is livelihood skills training, in order to present them with what they need, which is Christ.

AFFILIATION:  SHARE Institute falls under the direction and supervision of Sports &Rec Plus.  Its purpose and function are compatible to and coordinated with the ministries of Share Lab, Share Ministry, and other sports and recreation outreach ministries of Sports &Rec Plus.

If you want more information about S.H.A.R.E. Institute, International and/or think you might be interested in being a part of the ministry please contact us.
